Jim Niven, much-loved keyboard player in several bands, most notably (for most of the ’70s) The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band and The Sports, passed away on 9 April 2012.
Today (Saturday 28 April 2012) Black Routes presents a valedictory tribute to Jim.
In addition a Memorial Tribute – organised by members of Jim’s last band, The Festers – will take place tomorrow Sunday 29 April 2012 at the Glengarry Castle Hotel, corner of Abercrombie and Lawson streets, Redfern, from 2 pm to late – the pub closes at 10 pm. Expect some version of Captain Matchbox around 7 pm!
See you there tomorrow – sometime!
