Radio 2RDJ-FM congratulates Strathfield MP Jodi McKay on her election as the new leader of the New South Wales Labor party.

Following the count on Saturday night, it was announced that Ms McKay had secured 60.5% in the ballot of Labor MPs and more than 11,000 grassroots members.

This is an historic first for New South Wales in that the leaders of the two major political parties are both women.

Jodi McKay was elected to the State seat of Strathfield in 2015 with an 8.2% swing to Labor and re-elected in 2019.  In April 2015, she was appointed as the Shadow Minister for Police and Roads, Maritime and Freight and in 2016 she was promoted to Shadow Minister for Transport and Shadow Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight.

2RDJ-FM’s broadcast area falls within the State seats of Strathfield, Drummoyne and Summer Hill and the Federal seats of Reid, Watson and Grayndler.
