Graveyard Train hail from Melbourne and are a seven piece collective whose original brand of country and blues music is catchy and hook- filled. One listen to the first single lifted off the album, I’m Gone, a track that relays a tale of unrequited love and you will recognize that this is a band that can make it stick like schlick. Their album Hollow has a full multi layered sound with echoes of Nick Cave and Radio Birdman and as their third album shows that they have progressed from new kids on the chopping block to an experienced outfit that is quickly forging new territories.
As Steve Bell, editor of Time Off Magazine puts it:’Til now they’ve mainly been known for the live aspect of their armoury-‘that dark country gang with that guy who whacks the chain with the hammer’- but that’s all destined to change for Melbourne country-noir outfit Graveyard Train with release of their third album, Hollow…This is a band with the songwriting skills and band ethic to transcend any hint of gimmickry in their set-up or asthetic, and Hollow should be the record that finally finds them acknowledged as a great band in their own right. If Hell ever needs a saloon band, the devil won’t have far to look.”
Graveyard Train have just finished an extensive tour that started in Adelaide and crisscrossed over NSW and VIC . These ghoul masters, have made an indent on the Australian scene. Is it for real that Graveyard Train are just plain damned original?
